Such support of "programme" activities, in the form of backstopping, is primarily through the provision of common services such as finance, personnel, information systems, telecommunications and general services, and through a range of other activities such as evaluation, administration, and training.
Programme Delivery posts thus represented some 80 per cent of the total number of posts; the remaining 20 per cent were Administrative Support posts.
Programme Support: Organizational units whose primary function is the development, formulation, delivery and evaluation of an organization’s programmes.

Programme Delivery Control - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Programme Delivery Control is a standard (ETS 300 231) to control video recorders using hidden codes in the teletext service.
The PDC data indicates to the recorder when a show or program starts.
PDC is often used together with StarText, enabling the user to select a programme to record using specially coded teletext programme listings.

Programme Delivery Control is an amazing invention that allows the broadcasters to control your video recorder so you get all of the programme on tape, even if the schedule is running late.
They stand for Programme Delivery Control, which is jargon for an amazing invention that allows you to set your video to record a programme, knowing that, even if the programme doesn’t run on time, you’ll still get the whole thing on tape.
But we can accommodate these in our control room by use of a special button, which reverts the system to TIMER mode and allows most of the programme to be recorded under normal circumstances.

PDC is Programme Delivery Control, a system whereby broadcasters send special signals which indicate when a programme as about to start or end.
When it's not recording a programme, it is recording the last 30 minutes of the channel you currently have tuned.
In order to use PDC, you have to re-tune to other RF channels to see if upcoming events are going to start on time or not.

PDC (Programme Delivery Control) Explained - 625.uk.com
The PDC codes for opt-outs are generated locally, and so extra time was required to fully test the equipment and train the local operators.
PDC is a European standard and has been available in mainland Europe for some time, where it began life as VPS.
Presumably this is because BBC programmes are closer together and the worry is that you have to give the video enough time to be running so that it doesn't miss any of the programme.

Programme Delivery Control (PDC) is a system that controls suitably equipped video recorders by using hidden codes in the Teletext service.
With PDC, if a TV programme you want to tape is delayed or re-scheduled, the video recording will automatically be re-scheduled too, so you don't miss any of it.
PDC VCRs can be programmed in the same way as ordinary machines: either manually or (if available) with VideoPlus+.

With on screen programme guides, recording in digital is a simple one-button operation.

What they meant, it turned out, was that as well as all the usual VideoPlus and PDC (Programme Delivery Control - broadcasters send a code telling the machine when a programme's about to start, so you don't miss it if the snooker overruns), there's a brand new feature which Hitachi calls Tape Navigation.
It might split the details of PDC programmes recorded in a block and help you move around tapes, but I'm forced to wonder exactly how much use it's going to turn out to be.
There's a shuttle control on the remote, and even with that at the bottom and the large LCD at the top of it, it's still not ugly.

MRG Systems UK - Teletext Tutorial - PDC
Programme Delivery Control (PDC) is a system which permits simple programming and recording control of VCRs using Teletext technology.
For PDC to work, the broadcaster should be transmitting PDC data and the viewer should have a VCR capable of making and controlling PDC selections.
The cursor position for the selected programme is linked or mapped to the appropriate Packet 26 preselection data which is used to programme the VCR timer.

A ghost signal is transmitted alongside a television programme that a VCR with PDC can understand.
When the VCR is set to record a particular programme, and the PDC feature is active, the VCR will record the programme from the actual start to the actual end only when it receives the ghost signal.
It will alter the VCR settings to record the correct programme even if it starts or ends slightly different to the time shown in TV listings.

Video recorder scheduling code   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
To record a program, the number is taken from the newspaper and typed into the video recorder, which will then record on the correct channel at the correct time.
The number is generated by an algorithm from the date, time and channel of the programme, and so does not rely on anything being broadcast over the air.
This means it will not compensate for a disrupted schedule due to live sporting events or news bulletins, but many video recorders with these systems also incorporate PDC and will use that to alter times if possible.

Programme Delivery Control is a system which allows a video recorder to correctly record timer programs even if the broadcasts do not run to schedule.
Please note that not all independent television regions offer a full PDC service and, even in those that do, the accuracy of the PDC signal is not always 100%.
It is important when using a video recorder equipped with PDC that the video recorder is set for the EXACT start and stop time of the programme(s) you wish to record.

Forum - PDC - Programme Delivery Control
Hi there, I'm new and this is my first post; I have been doing quite a bit of lurking for the last two months, though.
I use PDC (or Programme Delivery Control) all the time on my VHS and it would feel like a step backwards to not have PDC any more.
The annoying thing that I'm really trying to get over is the habit that the BBC have of having completely different sets of schedules depending on (for example) whether we get into the semi-finals of the cricket or the World Cup.

Yet another service in the USA which relied on data delivery via the VBI like teletext, was the Guide+ (Guide Plus, also referred to as GuidePlus+ as well) service provided and developed by Gemstar.
In some ways, this was very similar to the PDC (Programme Delivery Control) feature of British/European teletext.
Such emulation of analogue teletext on digital TV platforms may ensure its continued use for some time (particularly as there are no plans an inmediate transition to digital terrestrial transmission in some countries, such as the Republic of Ireland).
