The Progressive Democratic Alliance was a centrist political party in British Columbia, Canada founded by Gordon Wilson, Member of the Legislative Assembly for Powell River-Sunshine Coast.
After losing a leadership election to Gordon Campbell, who led the party to victory in the 2001 provincial election, Wilson and Tyabji left the party to establish the Progressive Democratic Alliance on December 5, 1993.
The PDA folded when Wilson joined the ruling New Democratic Party of British Columbia to become a member of Cabinet.

The Democratic Party (DP) was the name of the South African political party now called the Democratic Alliance (DA).
Although the Democratic Party name dates from 1989, the party existed under other labels throughout the Apartheid years, when it was the Parliamentary opposition to the ruling National Party's policies (although it never commanded much support from the white electorate).
Prior to the adoption of the Democratic Party label, it was known variously as the Progressive Party, Progressive Reform Party, and Progressive Federal Party.

The Progressive Webgroup Alliance as a whole does not necessarily endorse or take responsibility for each and every view expressed on an allied groups message board, the content in a section on a specific subject, or email sent to a list.
