The Progressive Labour Party is a political party in Bermuda.
She led her party to victory in parliamentary elections in November 1998, in which the moderate United Bermuda Party, which had controlled the country since autonomy was gained in 1968, suffered an unprecedented defeat.
The Progressive Labour Party again won parliamentary elections in July 2003, but less than a week later, she was forced to resign as premier following a revolt within her own party.

Alex Scott (born 1940) is the premier of Bermuda and the leader of the Progressive Labour Party since 29 July 2003.
He was appointed premier when the PLP was re-elected in parliamentary elections and the party leader at that time, Jennifer Meredith Smith, was overthrown hours after the election results were certified when a split between the elected members of the party surfaced.
Supporters believed he wished to spread Bermuda's wealth amongst the population, while critics charged that the Scott administration was racially divisive and lacked accountability.
