Bogdaš is a majestic peak in the Kosovar Prokletije mountains, with a fine rugged summit ridge where the climber is forced to aplly his/her hands.
Bogdaš was said to be the second highest top in the Yugoslav Prokletije, after Djeravica (2656m), but according to the maps, it is (was)"only" the third highest after the second Maja e Gusanit (2540m), a border peak between Kosovo and Albania.
Bogdaš offers a stunning view of almost all of the eastern Prokletije: Djeravica and Maja Rops tower in the south, Žuti kamen, Nedžinat and distant Hajla rise in the north and Krš Èevrlje and Veternik are to the east.

They extend for 400 miles (645 km) along the coast of the Adriatic Sea (northwest-southeast), from the Julian Alps in the northwest down to the Šar-Korab massive, where the mountain direction changes to north-south.
The highest mountain of the Dinaric Alps is the Prokletije, located on the border of eastern Montenegro and northern Albania, with the peak called "Lake Crest" at 2,692 m or 8,833 ft (Maja Jezerce in Albanian, Jezerski vrh in Serbian).
However, in the Prokletije, a range on the northern Albanian border that runs east to west (thus breaking the general geographic trend of the Dinaric system), there is evidence of major glaciation.

The peaks of Prokletije inside Kosovo are under the jurisdiction of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission (UNMIK) and, according to UN Resolution 1244, are part of the Republic of Serbia.
The region of Prokletije is home to 19 species on the Red IUCN List of Threatened Plants, according to Marincic.
Prokletije harbours more than 200 species of birds and has been declared a bird habitat of international importance.

 The Mountain Range of Prokletije
Montenegrin Prokletije are just a small part of this special mountain range between Dinaridi and Sarskih planina (Sars mountains) located in Albania.
The starting point to explore Prokletije mountains is Grbaja valley with two mountain cottages and two picturesque places, Plav and Gusinje, located at the foot of the mountain.

Mountain Komovi is situated on the eastern part of Montenegro and it stretches between the farthest upstream part of the river Lim in the east, and the Tara on the west, the Drcka river on the north and mountain Prokletije and Planice in the south.
From the south and east it is encircled with a complex of Montenegrin-Albanian mountain range known as Prokletije (the highest peaks at altitude of 2 530m, 2 685m), and on the north by Bjelasica mountain (the highest peak at altitude of 2 137m).

Decani Monastery, located at the foot of the slopes of the Prokletije Mountains in the western part of the province Kosovo and Metohija, was added to the World Heritage List at the 28th session of the World Heritage Committee in Suzhou, China.
The Prokletije Mountain range is the largest individual mountain chain in the Dinaric region, hosting diverse and numerous flora and fauna species.
Focusing on Prokletije, the group formed a Committee in the year 2000, starting to promote research within the region itself as well as global interest, environmental education and resource mobilization through local initiatives, exchange visits, conferences, student internships, international site tours (including walking and mountain-bike treks), exhibitions, newsletters, lectures, video and photography.

 Decani Monastery
It was built between 1327 and 1335 by the Serbian medieval king St. Stephen of Decani and was dedicated to the Ascension of the Lord.
The monastery is settled in the picturesque valley of the Bistrica river surrounded by the mountains and forests of the Prokletije mountain range It is the largest and best preserved medieval monastery in Serbia.
During its turbulent history the Monastery was an important spiritual centre with developed artistic and intellectual activities.
