Promethium is the name used for two different fictional substances; one from the DC comics universe and one from the Marvel Comics universe.
Promethium is also capable of generating near-limitless amounts of energy, and so can be used as a power source for many gadgets.
Volatile Promethium is also a dangerous mutagen be used to mutate living beings or trigger their metagene; Dayton used it when creating the super-powered criminals known as the Hybrid.

The other says that this is a load of bollocks because Shockwave is an animation tool, not a comics tool, and what you end up with is basically just a really shitty piece of animation not dissimilar to those awful "cartoons" Marvel had in the sixties.
For a better example of what you can do with comics on the web, I entreat you all to visit Scott McCloud's website, which is full of interesting experiments that may, admittedly, not be the best stories in the world, but certainly point the way for totally new storytelling techniques.
Of the three Simon/Kirby stories here, two of them have the same basic plot - dimwitted female protagonist falls for dazzlingly exotic man who turns out to be a complete bastard, leading her to eventually realise the previously overlooked merits of the seriously dull and average man she thoughtlessly spurned on page three.

 DriverHeaven.net - Spider-Man 1 or 2?
The introduction of Jameson's son could hint of the Promethium X story line which was in Spiderman: The Animated Series.
Although, that storyline is completely false compared to the comics it would be easier for the audience to swallow and not to mention easier for the writers since they don't have to do the whole "Secret Wars" explanation.
Felicia Harding AKA Black Cat is supposed to be one of spidey's flings and she appeared in the comics as well.

Promethium is one of those elements I really never expected to get.
Promethium is an anomaly in that it is one of only two elements with atomic number less than 84 that have no stable isotopes.

It was stated many times in the comics that Inertron is an element, and recall that Element Lad often whipped some up on the spot to either use as a shield/barrier or to trap (encase) someone.
There are a few times in the comics where an alloy of inertron is mentioned, usually with titanium as the other chief component.
The comic did make mention that Adamantium could some how be cut slowly and painstakingly on the molecular level but that was the only way that they mentioned that it could refashioned after the metal had cooled.

Marvel had revolutionarized the comic book industry with the "Marvel" style of superhero, who had the complications of dealing with "real life." Never ones to miss on the sales comparisons, DC began copying the Marvel style.
The wheelchair figure couldn't be one of the active, crime-fighting heroes, because giving him the power to leave his wheelchair to fight crime would invalidate the whole reason to put him in a wheelchair in the first place.
Lobdell was apparently completely unaware of the aforementioned Promethium Exchange storyline, but we can reconcile this by simply noting that something bad must have happened to Darkoth between issues #39 and #83.

 DVD Verdict Review - Spider Man: The Venom Saga
It was closer in spirit to the original comics than were any of the versions that had come before, and the series endured until 1997.
He finally manages to divest himself of his alien duds the same way he did in the comics, by standing next to a gigantic church bell and letting the intense sound, the only thing against which the alien has no defense, do its job and shoo it away.
I liked the way it brought in all kinds of villains from the comics and actually used stories from issues I loved, but the style of animation was only a grade or two up from Superfriends and the distracting use of computer-generated backgrounds in some frames but not all turned me off.

The short of it - the promethium that the Imperium refers to is probably not Element #61 we commonly refer to.
I would the Promethium is just used by GW in the same way DC comics use Krypton.

Well, the "built in weakness" thing has just always kind of been a given, I'm not sure what comic it started in, but it is in the DC Encyclopedia, amongst other sources.
Kyle's ring, on the other hand, in "new." Ganthet reforged Hal's ring at the end of Emerald Twilight into a new one, this was after the now Parallax Hal had exited the battery and taken time out of his busy schedule of hunting and destroying the Cyborg to destroy it.
The first time it came up in comics was a story in the early eighties, and at that point it was supposed to be a shocking revealation.

Iron Man first appeared in Tales of Suspense # 39, and appeared in 7 other comics, including Force Works and the Avengers.
Recently in1996, Iron Man appeared in Heros Reborn, Iron Man. This series existed out of the normal Marvel Universe and had a darker look on the Avenger.
His origin was retold as the Hulk crushed Tony in the experimental Promethium armor, forcing Tony to don the armor to save his life.

I suspect the writer of Marvel Classic Comics#18 meant to refer to Tityus, a giant who was killed by Apollo and Demeter who was sent to Hades and punished by having his liver torn out by a vulture similar to the way Prometheus was.
(Incidentally, Marvel Classic Comics are apparently not inherently part of the mainstream Marvel continuity, so it may be a moot point anyway.
