Prophetic dance is a ritual dance in which the purpose is to obtain a communication from God (gods) or spirits.
In the Christian faith, the dance is entered by some groups into as a means of allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to people.
He/she goes into a very uninhibited way of moving, and the idea is that, whether consciously or not, the movements are inspired, guided or directed by the Holy Spirit for the purpose of communication and encouragement of either the dancer(s) and/or watchers.
