Interstate 10 (abbreviated I-10) is the southernmost east-west, coast-to-coast interstate highway in the United States.
In Arizona, as well as Jacksonville, the highway is designated the "Pearl Harbor Memorial Highway." The portion through Phoenix is named the "Papago Freeway." This designation starts at the initial junction/southern terminus of I-17 and runs westward out to AZ 101, a loop route whose current western terminus is Interstate 10.
Interstate 12 between Baton Rouge, Louisiana and I-59 near the Louisiana/Mississippi state line is actually a shorter route than I-10 between the two adjoining points, since I-10 dips to the south to go through New Orleans.

The Baltimore-Washington Parkway is not an interstate, but if it were, it would have been I-295; the section not controlled by the National Park Service is designated MD 295, while the portion of the Anacostia Freeway in Washington not designated I-295 is DC 295 – the District's only "state highway".
In Baltimore, two interstate highways (I-70 and I-83) were planned to intersect with I-95, but they were both cancelled, along with I-170 (which is now part of US 40).

Interstate 45 is one of the busiest freeways in the state of Texas, carrying traffic between Houston and Dallas.

Proposed spur from I-78, which at the time was on the Lehigh Valley Thruway, from 1962 to 1971.
Proposed in 1958 as the current Interstate 79 alignment towards Erie, but would have turned to parallel the PA 99 alignment to end in Kearsarge.
In 1970 the designation was moved to a proposed expressway which would have begun at Interstate 95, crossed the Delaware River, and connected to I-295 and to the New Jersey Turnpike in Burlington County, New Jersey.

Section 16 of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1968 provided that the Secretary may designate, as part of the Interstate System, a highway meeting all standards for Interstate highways and that are logical additions or connections to the System.
Interstate Construction funds may not be used for adding lanes to existing Interstate routes, except for a few miles of added lane projects which were included in and approved as part of the 1991 Interstate Cost Estimate.
Proposals for additional or modified access points are usually initiated by the State transportation departments but in some cases local governments or private entities initiate the process.

Interstate 50 and Interstate 60 were not assigned so as to avoid conflicts with U.S. 50 and U.S. 60 in the central part of the country.
Some Interstate Highways are Unsigned, including a variety of spur and loop routes that are often superfluous or confusing designations in addition to the primary route number.

Interstate 10 was under construction between Jennings and Crowley, as was a part north of the Eastern Expressway in New Orleans up to the future IH 10/12/59 interchange.
Interstate 59 is open from the town of Pearl River up to Picayune, MS so this would indicate the bridges over the Pearl River were complete.

In October 1958, the designation I-380 was proposed for the Embarcadero Freeway, which was later approved as I-480, downgraded to Route 480, and ultimately relinquished and destroyed.
The route adoption proposes a controlled access highway on predominantly existing alignment from the northern end of the Manzanar four lane section adopted in August, 2004, to a point 0.3 kilometers (0.2 miles) south of Mazourka Canyon Road, at Independence.
Route 480 was approved as chargeable interstate sometime pre-1965; it was deleted as a chargeable route in August 1965 (hence, its signage after that date with a state shield (Route 480), as opposed to an interstate shield).
