Prost did a deal to use John Barnard as a technical consultant and that was announced in December 1998 with Barnard's B3 Technologies helping Bigois and the design of the AP02.
Prost bolstered the technical team midway through 1999 by hiring Alan Jenkins to be his new technical director and in the autumn hired Formula 3000 Champion Nick Heidfeld and Jean Alesi to drive in 2000.
Prost restructured again, bringing in Joan Villadelprat as managing director and Henri Durand as technical director and selling a shareholding in the team to the Diniz Family.

Originally Prost wanted to be a football player but he became a kart racer in his teens and did well, although he had the reputation of being slightly wild.
Their relationship had become so strained in the course of the year that Prost had decided to move to Ferrari and he led the teamÍs revival in 1990, winning five races and only being beaten to the World Championship when Senna took him off in dubious circumstances at the start of the Japanese GP.
Prost as a team owner was not in the same league as Prost the driver.

After Prost came back for 1993, he and Senna continued where they left off, perhaps one of the biggest indications as to how much Prost is hated in Brazil is the fact that he was escorted by Police to the Interlagos circuit for the 1993 Brazilian Grand Prix.
Prost and his race engineer, John Barnard, came close to founding a team in 1990 but a lack of sponsorship meant that this was not possible, so Prost moved to Ferrari.

Despite the considerable efforts of Jean Alesi (a longtime friend of Alain Prost) and German Nick Heidfeld (a McLaren Mercedes protégé) the team was unable to score a single Championship point and the inevitable announcement was made that Peugeot were withdrawing from the sport at the end of the 2000 season.
Prost spent most of the 2000 season looking for an engine deal, until finally signing a 3 year agreement with Ferrari to supply both 2000 specification engines and gearboxes.
