George Vancouver (June 22, 1757 – May 12, 1798) was an officer of the Royal Navy, and an explorer best known for his exploration of North America and the Pacific coast along Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia.
The Fame was one of the vessels participating in the British victory in the Battle of the Saintes in 1782.
He got 56 degrees north, and because the more northern parts had already been explored by Cook, he then sailed south to California, hoping to be able to fulfill his task regarding Nootka; however, Bodega y Quadra was not there.

It is possible to tour the fort and it is also the site of a large fireworks display, said to be the largest west of the Mississippi River, on the 4th of July.
Named for Captain George Vancouver, the fort was located on the northern bank of the Columbia River in present-day Vancouver, Washington, near Portland, Oregon.
Both cities were named for sea captain George Vancouver, but the Canadian city was not incorporated until 1886, nearly 30 years after Vancouver, Washington, and more than 60 years after the name Fort Vancouver was first used.

I have to cook and wash dishes to earn my way, but the entire boat will be treated to "CAJUNBURGERS" on the deck on the boat every afternoon, and our famous Brown, full of great creole vegetables and lean chicken,JAMBALAYA YAYA.
It felt so good to be able to join with other people (about 400 in all, I would guess) in honoring the person who, until then, had been a long distance mentor who I saw only once or twice a year.
ANDY B!, vocals and percussion, was the mighty mouth for such R&B groups as The Homeboys and The Hub City All-stars.
