Jothi et al - Predicting Protein Domain Interactions
Domain pairs that are known to interact, denoted with "Y", have high correlation scores exhibiting high degree of co-evolution.
Protein sequences are shown using thick gray lines, and the domain annotations are shown using colored rectangular boxes (not drawn to scale).

 NCBI Conserved Domain Database (CDD)
Proteins often contain several modules or domains, each with a distinct evolutionary origin and function.
To identify conserved domains in a protein sequence, the CD-Search service uses the reverse position-specific BLAST algorithm.
Hits may be displayed as a pairwise alignments of the query sequence with representative domain sequences, or as multiple alignments.

3Dee contains structural domain definitions for all protein chains in the Protein Databank (PDB), currated by the EBI and the RCSB, that have 20 or more residues and are not theoretical models.
These domains have been clustered by both sequence and structural similarity.
The 3Dee download area provides lists of 3Dee domains and a description of their contents and format.

The Pfam database is a large collection of protein families, each represented by multiple sequence alignments and hidden Markov models (HMMs).
Proteins are generally composed of one or more functional regions, commonly termed domains.
Different combinations of domains give rise to the diverse range of proteins found in nature.

The Board of Directors of Canadian Light Source, Inc. and University of Saskatchewan President Peter MacKinnon are pleased to announce the appointment of Josef Hormes as the next executive director of the Canadian Light Source (CLS), effective August 15, 2008.
Following an 18-month search, Josef Hormes, now a professor of physics at the University of Bonn in Germany, was selected by the CLS and the University of Saskatchewan to replace the retiring Bill Thomlinson, who arrived in Saskatoon in 2003 just as the main phase of construction at the synchrotron building was winding down.

 Pfam: Pfam Home Page
Pfam is a large collection of multiple sequence alignments and hidden Markov models covering many common protein domains and families.
Pfam can be used to view the domain organisation of proteins.
To give Pfam a more comprehensive coverage of known proteins we automatically generate a supplement called Pfam-B. This contains a large number of small families taken from the PRODOM database that do not overlap with Pfam-A. Although of lower quality Pfam-B families can be useful when no Pfam-A families are found.
