The Bruins drafted young Bobby Orr who entered the league in 1966 and would be in the eyes of many the greatest defenseman of all time.

Hilbert had played for the Bruins at some point during each of the previous three seasons, and Boyes was acquired in a trade last season with Buffalo that sent defenseman Jeff Jillson to the Sabres.
Because of the addition of players like Bergeron, Hilbert and Boyes, the Providence Bruins are scoring more than they did last year, and Gordon feels it's the same throughout the American Hockey League with the influx of players who most likely would have been playing in the NHL if there was no lockout.

The players sent to the Providence Bruins are goaltender Hannu Toivonen, defensemen Kevin Dallman and Milan Jurcina, center Brad Boyes and wingers Martin Samuelsson and Colton Orr.
The Bruins sent the six players, who all played in Providence last year and were brought up for training camp, on Wednesday before midnight before the lockout began.
