Seui is the most important centre of the area of Barbagia di Seulo, although it comes under the administration of Ogliastra.
A typical mountain village, it is situated in the mid-eastern part of Sardinia, on the meridional slopes of the Gennargentu mountain chain.
Such was the importance of Seui during this period that, in 1850, La Mormora proposed that the capital of the province be transferred from Lanusei to Seui; this proposition represented by the building of the Town Hall in 1887.

Perdasdefogu is found in the southern part of Ogliastra, in the extreme south of the province of Nuoro.
In 1807 King Vittorio Emanuele reformed the public administration by instituting the 15 provinces of Sardinia, and Perdasdefogu, along with the other territories of Ogliastra, became part of the province of Tortolì.
In 1901 Sardinia was divided into two provinces and Perdasdefogu became part of the province of Cagliari until 1927 when the province of Nuoro was instituted.

Cag'liari is surrounded by such pools, which, being in direct communication with the sea and retaining in their water a considerable amount of salt, are not dangerous to health, as the larvae of mosquitoes cannot live in them.
In the district called Ogliastra are Lanusei, Arzana and Villagrande, villages which command extensive and magnificent views-a series of hills towering one beyond the other as far as the sea which washes the shore of Tortoli.
