On 5 - 6 February 2003 a national workshop was organised which emphasized the monitoring of media violations in the provinces of Mozambique and how to send reports on alerts to the Maputo office.
MISA Mozambique is also working to put in place a Voluntary Media Complaints Council and a Code of Ethics is being drafted in collaboration with some national institutions including Universidade Eduardo Mondlane.
MISA Mozambique was established during a constitutive assembly meeting held in Maputo on August 22, 2000 and on November 16, 2000 the chapter was legally recognised as a legal entity in Mozambique.

A tropical depression hit the coast of Zambezia Province between January 20-25, resulting in heavy rain and localized flooding in the districts of Nicoadala, Namacurra, Maganja da Costa, Pebane, Inhassunge, Chinde, Mopeia, and Morrumbala in Zambezia Province.
RESPONSE: Two CWS partners, Christian Council of Mozambique (CCM) and the Presbyterian Church of Mozambique (PCM), responded to the flooding in 2000 and are now responding, as well, to this year’s destructive flooding.
