Hualtain was appointed to the province's superior court by Canadian Prime Minister Sir Robert Borden in 1912, and the Provincial Rights Party became the Saskatchewan Conservative Party.
There was also an earlier Provincial Rights Party in Manitoba founded by Thomas Greenway in the 1882, which opposed the John Norquay government for being too close to Sir John A. Macdonald's Conservatives.

Provincial governments have urged upon their courts in these cases an interpretation of the Charter which would deny any protection of Covenant rights and consequently leave the complainants without the basic necessities of life and without any legal remedy.
The Committee urges the federal, provincial and territorial governments to adopt positions in litigation which are consistent with their obligation to uphold the rights recognized in the Covenant.

A provincial government building in Edmonton, an elementary school in Calgary, and a mountain in Jasper National Park are named in his memory.

Their fear is that any mention of the 200,000 political prisoners in forced labor camps, the suppression of the population's civil and political freedoms or the punishment meted out to those who try to flee the country would antagonize the North Korean government and jeopardize chances for a nuclear agreement.
Human rights and humanitarian issues should be brought in as well.

In this 40-page briefing paper, Human Rights Watch analyzes how the Turkish government is failing to provide fair compensation for hundreds of thousands of mainly Kurdish villagers displaced by the military’s brutal counterinsurgency campaigns in the southeast.
Although a compensation law aimed at providing fair and appropriate redress to the displaced was adopted by the Turkish parliament in 2004, provincial assessment commissions have arbitrarily and unjustly reduced compensation amounts or denied compensation altogether to those displaced during counterinsurgency operations in the 1980s and 1990s.
Human Rights Watch warned that the former ruling party could use the abusive force for political purposes prior to elections slated for January 23, 2007.
