She chained the policeman to the floor with the aid of her lackey Emil, and placed two melting blocks of ice on each side of the policeman, all the while a hot oven runs nearby accelerating the melting of the ice.
Pruneface himself returned to life in 1985, when Max Allan Collins revealed that a scientist sympathetic to the Third Reich had acquired his frozen body and placed it in proper cryogenic preservation.

Pruneface is probably the ultimate badass, but you only need to show us that so many times.

In Collins’ letter to CBG he wrote, “Wells gives titles to each of my stories, which are for the most part of his own choice and creation; they are good and clever titles, but they aren’t my own.” I tend to refer to the stories simply by the name of the villain.
This story revealed that Pruneface, thought to be frozen to death in 1942, was actually put into cryonic suspension (by one “Dr. Kryos Freezdrei”, no less) and revived in the present day.
Pruneface; there were also two tpbs available, Tommyguns and Hard Times and The Celebrated Cases of Dick Tracy.

Max was writing Dick Tracy at the time, and I commented that I despised Pruneface, a bad guy created and destroyed by Tracy's creator, Chester Gould.
Pruneface was Nazi, criminal, ugly...that enough made him worth being dead, but no, Max had to bring him back to life.
In Max's story, some Weisenthal types got hold of Pruneface, but he survived somehow.

Pruneface and Flattop (1943, the latter being Gould's most famous villian), The Brow and Shaky (1944), Itchy (1945) and on and on, Gould countered the horrifying headlines of World War II with his own dose of horrible henchmen.
Gould really hit his creative stride in the mid 40s, and I think his work is best from around 1942 to about 1960.
