These dietary results were compared with data from prey survey programs in Beecroft Peninsula from 1996 to 2000 and prey monitoring between Jervis Bay National Park and Booderee to evaluate the effectiveness of scat analysis in assessing the efficacy of baiting programs.
The most common species consumed by foxes was the common ringtail possum Pseudocheirus peregrinus, except at northern Jervis Bay National Park (JBNP) where swamp wallaby Wallabia bicolor dominated.
Between northern JBNP and Beecroft Peninsula Pseudocheirus peregrinus and Perameles nasuta had a greater occurrence in scats collected from Beecroft.
