Pszczyna, monografia historyczna [Pszczyna A Historical Monograph] by Ludwik Musioł, published in Katowice in 1936, is an excellent book presenting the outline of Pszczyna's history up to the year 1936.
It used to be a property of the rulers of Pszczyna and belonged to the parish of Pszczyna.
In the feudal period Polska Wisła was the property of the Duke of Pszczyna.

Pszczyna, as "CIVITAS" - a town founded next to the formerly existing stronghold, was mentioned in 1327 in a document in which Piast Prince Leszek - the last independent ruler of the Opole-Racibórz principality - paid homage to king John of Luxembourg.
Owing to participation of the inhabitants in the three Silesian uprisings and the results of the plebiscite of 1921 (74 percent of the poviat population were in favour of Poland), the Land of Pszczyna returned to the Motherland.
The successive rulers of the castle in Pszczyna were the Piast princes of the Opole-Racibórz line, the Bohemian Premyslids of Opawa, a Hungarian family of Turzon from Spisz, a Silesian family of Promnitz from Żary, the Anhalt family from Köthen and the Hochbergs from Książ.
