I am blessed to live in the pacific northwest USA where my GH and KH are in the 5ppm range - Try to keep the pH between 7.0 and 7.2 by adding a few seashells and calcite to the water or I experience pH crashes.
Since they are mostly still wild caught fish their colors are nearly always gold stripes (rather bland in my opinion and they still need fairly acid water, unless of course you can acclimate them over time.
