I visited Puako once in June 2000 as part of half a day of relaxation just before the educational workshop I was working with started its Big Island activities.
Puako is the site of both the Mauna Lani Hotel and of a small, quiet coastal community on the Kona Caost of the Big Island.
Although Puako has quiet yet beautiful beaches, it is best known for its petroglyphs, particularly a large field of petroglyphs located one-half mile inland from a beach access area near the Mauna Lani Hotel.
