The Public Transport Users Association, founded in 1976 as the Train Travellers Association, is a community-based public transport lobby group in Victoria, Australia, based in Melbourne.
Of particular interest to the Association are potential extensions to Melbourne's metropolitan rail network (including a railway lines to Doncaster and Rowville (via Monash University) and an overhaul of the bus network, including more routes being upgraded to SmartBus status.
The PTUA successfully lobbied for extended New Years Day public transport hours in 2004, a success that was repeated in 2005.

They seem to be ignoring the fact that in many areas the public transport system simply can’t cope with more passengers.
Perhaps the government should be focusing on fixing the public transport system before trying to discourage people from using their cars.
Personally I would love to be able to take public transport to work, but for double the travel time at almost the same cost as driving I don’t consider it to be a reasonable option.
