| | Pudsey History (an outline) |
 | | Pudsey, Calverley and Farsley, which between 1937 and 1974 formed the Borough of Pudsey, lie between the two large conurbations of Leeds and Bradford, rising to the south of the Aire valley to a height of 600 feet. |
 | | Pudsey was granted a Charter of Incorporation in 1900 and for 74 years enjoyed considerable autonomy with its own mayor and corporation. |
 | | The increase was greatest in Pudsey, the population between 1801 and 1971 rising from 4,422 to 37,835; in Farsley the increase was almost as great, from 954 to 6,158 and in Calverley it rose from 1,127 to 3,655. |
