PUEY UNGPHAKORN was born in the family home in Talad Noi—the heart of the business section—of Bangkok, Thailand, on March 9, 1916, the fourth child in a family of five sons and two daughters.
PUEY studied diligently at the elementary and secondary schools (French Section) of the Catholic Mission's Assumption College in the Bangrak district of Bangkok.
PUEY added that it is not in conformity with the moral code for the poor to demand that the rich share their wealth while the poor do not work.

Puey Ungpakorn (Thai: ป๋วย อึ๊งภากรณ์, March 9, 1916 - July 28, 1999) was one of Thailand's most distinguished economists.
He is the author of The Quality of Life of a South-East Asian : A Chronicle of Hope from Womb to Tomb or later known as From Womb to Tomb, which is still one of the most influential writings about social security in Thailand.

Anand is the sixth Chairman of the Board of AIT; preceding him were H.E. Dr. Pote Sarasin, Professor Puey Ungpakorn, Professor Oscar Mapua, H.E. Dr. Thanat Khoman, now Chairman emeritus, and M. Birabhongse Kasemsri.
Anand has long been associated with AIT, going as far back as 1958 when the Institute was first conceived as the SEATO Graduate School of Engineering.

[I believe I've seen this photo in a Thai Language 'Photomagazine' book about the life and times of Doctor Puey Ungpakorn, so I guess he is one of the pictured; perhaps the one on the extreme left of this jovial group of 6 SeriThai.
I seem to remember the bigger original was taken aboard a ship carrying the group from England to Ceylon.]
