Pui O is a bay shaped by Chi Ma Wa Peninsula and the ridge of Sunset Peak.
Pui O Beach (貝澳泳灘) is a beach occupied the whole shore of Pui O. Due to geological composition of surrounding area, the sand on the beach is mixture of fl and yellow.
Pui O is on the South Lantau Road.

Compared with the grading released last week, Kiu Tsui Beach, Lo So Shing Beach, Lower Cheung Sha Beach, Middle Bay Beach, Pui O Beach and South Bay Beach were downgraded from 'good' to 'fair'; Butterfly Beach, Cafeteria Old Beach and Kadoorie Beach from 'fair' to 'poor'.
Seven gazetted beaches - Anglers' Beach, Approach Beach, Ting Kau Beach, Casam Beach, Gemini Beaches, Hoi Mei Wan Beach and Lido Beach - are closed to swimmers year round because of poor water quality.
Many beaches are likely to be more polluted than their grades suggest during and after periods of heavy rain.

A member of the Living Islands Movement and a resident of Pui O, Cecilie Gamst Berg - who walks her dog in the area every day and regularly examines village notice boards - insists she saw no Lands Department notice posted in February.
It was while hiking on the far side of the site in an area with no path that she found a notice on the plan.
In the case of Pui O's holiday hotel, that should obviously include the Green Lantau Association, Living Island Movement and the Pui O-based Lantau Buffalo Association.

You can then go by bike in Pui O direction.

I know of some nice looking hostel type places in the Saikung reservoir area, but not sure if accept people off the street.
Also, I don't think any of them are within a reasonable walk from the surf beaches.
Are the Big Wave Bay village bungalos of reasonable standard?
