Pulaski, who fought on behalf of the American cause in the Revolutionary War, was mortally wounded in 1779 during an attack on British forces that had seized Savannah.
In the 1808 act creating Pulaski County, judges of the inferior court were empowered to designate the county seat and contract for the building of a courthouse and jail.

In 1851 Jonathan Yoder moved his family to McLean County, Illinois and were soon joined by a dozen or more Amish families from Butler County, Ohio who were later immigrants and had settled there between 1820 and 1850.
Peter moved from Illinois to Havelock, Iowa in 1902, and then in 1905 to a farm south of Manson, Iowa in Calhoun County where he was a farmer, and trapped Muskrat during the winter months.
