Pediatric Pulmonology is one of the newest and most exciting of the pediatric subspecialties.
Originally conceived as primarily founded subspecialty in the mid to late 1970's, it became quickly apparent that the need for expertise in clinical management of diseases such a cystic fibrosis, congenital pulmonary disorder, severe asthma, and chronic lung disease associated with prematurity was so great that a clinically based subspecialty soon became a reality.
