The punch is a hand technique which uses the muscles of the arms and trunk to transfer the power generated by the legs and hips to the target.
The forearm is rotated during the punch, stopping palm down, which allows a better connection between the arm and the shoulder and chest muscles to be acheived.
The "correct" punch and therefore the correct route is determined by the position and angle of the target surface in relation to the puncher.
