Punga Cove is in the Marlborough Sounds not in Franz Josef.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful, they have laundry facilities, we had a very large room with kitchen, and enjoyed their hot tub in a fern setting.
As for Franz Josef I can't comment on Punga Grove - but I can advise against Glacier Gateway as we did stay there and could not recommend it to anyone.

It has two large arched glass-houses fulled to the brim with tropical plants and orchids, and the most beautiful outdoor fernery which is framed by huge wooden beams.
The beams used to have shade netting over them when I was a child, I think they took it down when the punga (fern trees) got tall enough to provide their own shade.
You may notice on the marble statue of the two girls, that the nipple areas of the girls are whiter, this is because everyone who walks past touches them for good luck - they're shiny and smooth from years of rubbing..
