Pomegranates are in the family Punicaceae, roses are in the family Rosaceae.
Both Punicaceae and Rosaceae are in the subclass Rosidae, but Rosaceae is in the order Rosales and Punicaceae is in the order Myrtales.
So they are a bit related, but not closely.
