Punk rock - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Punk rock was also a reaction against certain tendencies that had overtaken popular music in the 1970s, including what the punks saw as superficial "disco" music and grandiose forms of heavy metal, progressive rock and "arena rock." Punk also rejected the remnants of the hippie counterculture of the 1960s.
Punk rock emphasised simple musical structure and short songs, extolling a DIY ethic (the early UK punk fanzine Sniffin' Glue in 1977 famously included drawings of three chord shapes, captioned, "this is a chord, this is another, this is a third.

My argument isn’t that punk music is the savior of humanity and that if we all listen to punk music we will be suddenly endowed with knowledge and understanding far exceding our predecessors.
My argument is simply that punk music is not always destructive and that it has indeed done something to improve the world we live in rather then destroy it.

Anarchist Punk Downloads - Download Anarchist Punk Music - Download Anarchist Punk MP3s
Anarchist punk sometimes came from the far left wing (the Dead Kennedys), sometimes from the downtrodden, Thatcher-era working class (the Exploited), and sometimes both; regardless of its origins, it was unified by its radical politics.
Most anarchist punk was an offshoot of hardcore punk, since both emerged around the same time, and anarchist punk usually resided on the rougher, more amateurish end of the spectrum.
The definitive anarchist punk band was Crass, both for their crashing, barely structured music and for the communal lifestyle its members lived in support of their politics.

To summarize, the punk movement was the same, time-tried rejection of existing rules and the rowdy voice of change: a statement of discontent through an inarticulate voicing of problems: loud, if not clear, shocking and forthright.
Primarily, it was because the punk movement grew at an alarming rate, as if the flood gates had opened to release an army of anxious, eager and angry youths.

Yes, 11 pages of religious babble declaring not only rock music but "Christian rock music" to be as nothing but hedonism under the guise of religion.
"Rock music, as used and performed in Christian circles, is of the same satanic seed as that which is called punk, heavy metal, and is performed in devilish rock concerts worldwide," warns Watkins.
Christian "rock music" offers no hope--since it is Spiritless--and offers no heaven, since the music "produces a vacuum-full of sound and fury, but no substance." It provides no foundation to the believer because its birth came from secular rock and roll, which has no basis in God.

Punk music was never about (and how many times have I read this) dressing up in a certain way, or bringing down governments or changing the world.
It may have succeeded in scaring a few people in the music industry, (so they went out and bought the bands), and provided an influence for some bands and some fashions, but you'd struggle to argue that it really changed much else.

music was often difficult to distinguish from ordinary punk by unfamiliar ears, the music reflected a musical style based on the old tradition of pub sing-a-longs, but often much, much faster.
