	Metla Forests Punkaharju - Nature conservation areas
		It covers the whole esker area from the southern end of the esker near the village of Punkaharju to the Kokonharju primeval forest area at the northern end of the esker.
		There are several points of interest that increase the value of the Punkaharju nature conservation area, such as relics from prehistoric times, war equipment, several protected buildings including the hotel Finlandia and the Rehabilitation hospital, and numerous other smaller buildings and constructions.
		The stand is the oldest artificially regenerated stand in the Punkaharju research area.

	SAIMAA — Finland's largest lake — Virtual Finland
		Punkaharju is a narrow ridge about seven kilometres long, created from gravel deposits along the edge of the continental ice sheet, separating Lake Puruvesi and Lake Pihlajavesi.
