Bhattacharjee said the district administration had failed to implement schemes undertaken for the 996 villages of Purulia identified among the poorest.
Purulia, Birbhum, Murshidabad, Malda, North Dinajpur and South Dinajpur would be covered in the fist phase.

Rudolf Schwenk, the state representative for West Bengal cites the example of how UNICEF convinced the Purulia district administration to supply Magnesium Sulphate in the districts and blocks which had led to a decrease in maternal deaths in the district by almost 11% from 2002 to 2004.
UNICEF also supported a series of training workshops for obstetricians, medical officers and nurses of Purulia District on standard management protocol for eclampsia using magnesium sulphate which is a cheap drug to arrest growing deaths due to eclampsia.

According to reports, the Indian government has now agreed to the conditions and the ministry of external affairs is expected to shortly convey this to Denmark.

Since Shambhu had no experience of making puppets and there was none in the village to help him, he tried out making string puppets from wood, plastic, tin, etc. While arms and fists were made from plastic glass, and upper limbs from rubber pipe, costumes came out from old sarees, with control by iron rods.
From his use of Chhau masks, instead of tin-faces, a new type of puppet was born.

But from the cross-examination of the aforesaid witness by accused Peter Bleach it has come out clearly that the witness could not see the moving article personally, as he has clearly stated that the aircraft was not visible during the darkness of the night, but simply saw flashing of the aircraft.
Now a question arises as to whether the arms recovered in Purulia and the arms already recovered from the aircraft are the same and identical in nature or not.

The police claimed that the peddlers disclosed during interrogation that these arms were part of the consignment air-dropped on Purulia in December 1995.
The Sadar police had arrested Chittaranjan Mahto, Taroni Mahto and Sukumar Das, all hailing from Purulia district in neighbouring West Bengal, on March 1 with 5 kg of marijuana from the Booti crossing.
