		Putian (Simplified Chinese: 莆田; Pinyin: Pútián) is a prefecture-level city in eastern Fujian province, People's Republic of China.
		The prefecture-level city of Putian administers 4 districts and 1 county.
		Meizhou Island, most famous for being the legendary birthplace of the goddess Matsu, is located closely offshore of Putian.

		Xiamen University must have one of the best campuses in China, at the end of the university is a mile long boulevard beach walk.
		A walk through the university grounds at night with a romantic stroll along the beach is a perfect way to end off an evening.
		Putian is also famed (at least in our guidebook), and having a venice like township just outside of town - Zhou Zhuang on steroids.

		QuanZhou Normal University (2004)(QuanZhou China) Taught Business under the TAFE program which is voint Venture between the Univ and the Austrailian Govt.
		While teaching ESL in Qingdao and Putian I picked up enough Chinese to greet people and give directions to taxi drivers but not much else.

		Putian is not a big city to begin with, not even among the five biggest cities in Fujian province, and Fujian is not big.
		I wouldn't recommend any of my friends to go and work in Putian.
