PySolitaire is a fork of PySol Solitaire that runs correctly on Windows and has a nice clean installer.
The origional PySol was written by Markus Franz Xaver Johannes Oberhumer.
PySol and PySolitaire are distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL).

Due to recent happenings (some distributions "patch" out sound support, some companies sell disguised PySol versions as their own programs,...) any work on PySol4 has been stopped, and only the source code remains available.
After more than seven years of work on PySol I realize more and more that the GNU GPL does not work out for game-like programs, and I'm seriously considering using some stricter license for PySol5.
PySol is copyrighted OpenSource software distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License.

I already had X11 and Python installed when I downloaded pysol, so it was just a matter of extracting to /usr/local, starting an xterm, and running pysol.
My mom really likes Pysol but one of the games she wants to play on it isn't the way that she knows the game, so I'm trying to figure out the plugins folder, that I think is for creating new games, but I am getting nowhere on trying to find info about it.
(Pysol as of this writing has 128 variants you can play.) The interface is clean and smooth, and you can choose from an assortment of card types and sizes.

Python is interpreted, so I imagine the pysol.exe is a packaged interpreter, and it might be out of date since Pysol isn't being maintained.
on Apr 23 2006 2:54 AM When I download pysol, all I get in the.tar.bz2 file is a directory called /src that has no makefile.
It used to have an email address, which is now gone but which in any case needed some kind of difficult-to-fathom encription code.

 stopping the sound server in PySol code -- how?
When I run PySol, it grabs the sound system in a rude and complete way.
I don't listen to sound and I NEED my sound system available even if PySol is running.
Of course you have to use xmms arts plugin for output, as otherwise xmms shows the same annoying behaviour.

Well, I followed your instructions, qnr, using the "urpmi pysol", and it gave me a continous error after it asked for the third cd.
In any case, I tried the other "urpmf pysol" upon reboot and that seemed to have worked.
Pysol is a standard in my sytem and should install without any problem.

It's a python problem only in that pysol is written in python.
You may have installed pysol somewhere where your user can't write the.pyc file.
Run it in your home directory instead, or run pysol as root the first time, perhaps.
