In 1959, the name was changed to Pye Records and ATV acquired 50% of the label.
When the rights to the name Pye expired in 1980, the label changed its name to PRT Records.

Pye took decisive action and re-branded its labels wholesale, creating Pye International for its US deals, Pye 4D for its lounge-core action, and the blue Pye label for its pop fayre, replacing the trusty old cerise pink one.
Of course Pye was one of the biggest providers of UK issues of Northern Soul classics, and Geno Washington found a home on Marble Arch for a while alongside the likes of Otis Redding and others.
A record that needs no introduction, and quite probably the most lusted after Marble Arch release of this day and age, even considering the fact that its a reissue of the original Pye LP that came out a couple of years previously and of which the chances of finding could be described as 'fat'!

Their contribution to this piece of banding history was Mirrlees Makes Music (MALS 1317) and it holds the accolade as the worst piece of type setting and proof reading ever for a band LP sleeve.

As colour was fast approaching on ITV, the running order of music transmissions all over the country was considerably affected as a consequence of the change from using records directly to using records transferred on to tape.
The transitional period from record to tape was very untidy, confusing and complicated, and as a result it was a considerable time before every main station of the IBA/ITA transmitter network was broadcasting the same music.

The entire record sounds great; a particular highlight for me was Annie's version of 'I've told every little star', which was a hit for Linda Scott (whose version was featured in the Mulholland Drive soundtrack).
The title track, ‘daybreak’ (which was later recorded by Astrud Gilberto) is magical, a wonderful mix of gentle vocals, nicely picked acoustic guitar, full arrangements and nice drum sounds.
To me, the record is a revelation — like a cooler and classier take on the Chad & Jeremy sound, with superior performances, songwriting and arrangements.

The Guitar Player is his first full-length album, recorded in 1962 and issued on the venerable Pye Records Golden Guinea label two years after Graham's recording debut, the 3/4 A.D. EP on Topic.
