  Lemur - MSN Encarta
Lemurs make up five closely related families within the primate order: the typical or true lemurs; the sportive lemurs; the dwarf lemurs and mouse lemurs; the indri, sifaka, and avahi; and the aye-aye.
Lemurs range in size from the pygmy mouse lemur, only 30 g (1 oz) in weight and 20 cm (8 in) in length (including the tail), to the indri, which is about 75 cm (about 2.5 ft) tall and about 7 to 10 kg (15 to 22 lb) in weight.
Lemurs are forest creatures that are arboreal (live in trees), except for the ring-tailed lemur, which travels extensively on the ground, and the crowned lemur, which may spend part of its time on the ground.

 Lemurs.us - Lemur Basics
Lemurs are small primates known as "prosimians," which, roughly translated, means "pre-primates" or "before monkeys." Native only to the island of Madagascar and the neighboring Comoro Islands, lemurs resemble the oldest ancestors of primates which existed tens of millions of years ago.
Today's lemur species range in size from the tiny pygmy mouse lemur, weighing in at about an ounce, to the 15-pound indri lemur and the sifaka, which are both about the size of a standard house cat.
The smaller mouse lemurs and dwarf lemurs are nocturnal, preferring to be active in the relative safety of nighttime darkness.

Abstract: The insulation capacity of tree holes used by grey mouse lemurs (Microcebus murinus) was studied in a primary dry deciduous forest in western Madagascar, during the cool dry season.
Mouse lemurs remained torpid between 1.7 - 8.9 h with a daily mean of 3.4 h, and their Tsks fell to a minimum of 18.8 °C. Mean home ranges of mouse lemurs which remained normothermic were similar in the rainy and dry season.
We found that DEE of mouse lemurs using daily torpor was significantly correlated with the mean temperature difference between Tsk and Ta (r2 = 0.37) and with torpor bout length (r2 = 0.46), while none of these factors explained significant amounts of variation in the DEE of the mouse lemurs remaining normothermic.

 * Mouse lemur - (Animals): Definition
Pygmy mouse lemurs are the world's smallest primate.
Lemurs are completely arboreal except for the ring-tailed lemur, Lemur catta, which spends about 15% of the daylight hours on the ground and enjoys sunning itself.
They are divided into two subfamilies: the dwarf and mouse lemur (six species) and the lemurs, made up of eight species of cat-sized primates, including the true lemurs, gentle lemurs and sportive lemurs.

 Lemur
Lemurs are found naturally only on the island of Madagascar, and some smaller surrounding islands, including the Comoros (where it is likely they were introduced by humans).
Typically, the smaller lemurs are active at night (nocturnal), while the larger ones are active during the day (diurnal).
All lemurs are endangered species, due mainly to habitat destruction (deforestation) and hunting.

Peters' Mouse Lemur - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Peters' Mouse Lemur (Microcebus myoxinus), also known as the Pygmy Mouse Lemur, is the smallest of the mouse lemurs and the smallest primate in the world, only weighing around 30 grams (roughly 1 ounce).
Its small size and nocturnal nature made it difficult to locate for over a century, and was rediscovered in the Kirindy forest in western Madagascar in 1993.
They rest during the day, and have a tendency to sleep in the open, which increases the risk of predation; although this danger is somewhat mitigated by sleeping alone.
