Pylons of Messina - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Pylons of Messina are the pylons of the former above-ground 220kV-high voltage line crossing the Strait of Messina between Italy and Sicily, part of a longer power line from Sorgente to Rizziconi.
In a difference from usual practice, the corners of the pylons are arranged diagonally along the direction of the course of the line.
The pylons of Messina were the model of the pylons of Elbe crossing 1 in Germany and were, until the completion of Elbe crossing 2, the highest pylons of the world.

pylons of cadiz - Article and Reference from OnPedia.com
The Pylons of Cadiz are two pylons for a 132kV-powerline crossing the bay of Cadiz in Spain.
The pylons of Cadiz are designed by A. Toscano and from a very unconventional construction, which consists of a frustum steel framework construction with a narrow grid width and one crossbar on the top for the conductors.
This unconventional construction mode was chosen because Spanish steel factories were not able to produce large steel carries at the time, when these pylons were built and importing such carriers was impossible because of the Franco regime.

The area around the Strait of Messina borders one of the three most important European migration routes for many birds of prey, storks, cranes and other migratory species.
In its complaint, WWF highlighted the areas at risk from the erection of pylons, construction sites, raised sections of the bridge and excavation deposits and pointed out that these would have a major impact on both the Sicilian and the Calabrian sides of the bridge.
Under threat from the bridge’s pylons are areas around Capo Peloro - Laghi di Ganzirri (home to over 400 aquatic species including 10 endemic birds) and Dorsali Curcuraci-Antennammare (a special area for 33 priority species).
