In 1565 Pyotr Mstislavets printed two editions of the Breviary (Часовник).
In January of 1576 Mstislavets finished printing the Psalter (Псалтырь) with a frontispiece engraved in wood (Tsar David, or Царь Давид), multiple illuminations and decorated capital letters.
Historians believe that after this incident Mstislavets continued his printing activities in Ostrog, Ukraine.

The first Moscow printed dated book “Apostle” published in 1564 was set in type based on Half-Ustav handwriting.
Its type was created by Moscow printers Ivan Fyodorov and Pyotr Mstislavets.
After Peter the Great type reforms of the beginning of the 18th century Half-Ustav fonts was used only in the church books.

There is also a rich collection of books and magazines of the XVIII century, life editions of works by outstanding scientists, writers and state men as well as best samples of polygraphic art and so on.
The work, being done together with assistant librarian Pyotr Kondyrev, was finished in September 1807.

In this printing-house Ivan Fyodo-rov and Pyotr Mstislavets printed the first dated Russian book, the writings of the Apostle, in 1564.
At one time it was a hotel with the same name, in which such famous people as the artist llya Repin, the composers Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and the writer Anton Chekhov stayed.

It was built by I. Mironovsky in 1814 for the Synodal Printing Shop on the site of the Tsar's Printing House, the first Russian printing press that Ivan the Terrible ordered set up in 1563 (the lion and unicorn making up its coat of arms).
In 1564, Ivan Fyodorov, along with Pyotr Mstislavets, printed the first-ever Russian book, The Apostle.
The wooden structures of the Printing Shop have long disappeared.
