I was born at (or about :-) 9:00pm, Friday, 9 October 1970 at the city of Pyrgos, capital of the Ilia Perfecture, at the west end of Peloponissos (the Peloponnese), the southern (and hand-like) part of the mainland Greece.
Pyrgos lies 10 Km western of Ancient (and contemporary) Olympia, the origin of Olympic Games, also located at the Ilia Perfecture.
I am not exactly from there, though, as Pyrgos is only the closest city (55 Km by car) to my village, Liodora, which belongs to the neighbouring Arcadia Perfecture and is located at about 20 Km southeast of Olympia.

Someone broke into the Pyrgos National Stadium during the night and spread 10 kgs of nails throughout the pitch.
Stadium crews worked all day to collect the nails and the match was eventually held with league front runner Olympiakos winning 3-1.
