Elia as Elis used to cover (not as a prefecture, department or a province) as far north as the western cape of Araxos before boundaries were changed, and Neo Vouprasía were part of Elia Its original boundary were what is now Móvri-Larissoú line in Achaea (Achaia).
The port of Kyllini in the northwest is the busiest port in Elia.

The celebrations started in August 2003 with the ‘International Conference on Anglo-American Idealism’, Olympic Centre for Philosophy and Culture, Pyrgos of Elia, Greece, 20th-25th August 2003.
During the trip from Athens to Pyrgos, the participants enjoyed a visit to the historic winery and vineyard of Achaia Clauss in Patras, accompanied by a guided tour and wine reception in the castle.
