Pyromania - Definition, Description, Causes and symptoms, Demographics, Diagnosis, Treatments, Prognosis, Prevention
Pyromania is defined as a pattern of deliberate setting of fires for pleasure or satisfaction derived from the relief of tension experienced before the fire-setting.
Although pyromania is considered to be a rare disorder in adults, repeated firesetting at the adolescent level is a growing social and economic problem that poses major risks to the health and safety of other people and the protection of their property.
Pyromania in adults is considered difficult to treat because of the lack of insight and cooperation on the part of most patients diagnosed with the disorder.

 Anxiety Zone - Pyromania
Pyromania is an obsession with fire and starting fires, in an intentional fashion, usually on multiple occasions.
To qualify as true pyromania, the fire must not be done for personal gain, monetary or otherwise, or as an act of revenge or psychotic episode.
Those afflicted with pyromania experience tremendous joy and gratification in not only the act of setting fires, but also the institutions of fire control — fire stations, firefighters, fire-suppression systems, etc.

Pyromania - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Few scientifically rigorous studies have been done on the subject, but psychosocial hypotheses suggest pyromania may be a form of communication from those with few social skills, or an ungratified sexuality for which setting fires is a symbolic solution.
Pyromania is a very rare disorder, and the incident of it is less than one percent in most studies; also, pyromaniacs are a very small proportion of psychiatric hospital admissions.
Pyromania can occur in children as young as age three, but it is rare in adults and rarer in children.

Pyromania is one of the best rock albums of the 80s...pick it up.
With Pyromania, Def Leppard became one of the biggest bands in the country, thanks to three huge hits and a bevy of strong album tracks.
Regardless, Pyromania remains a pinnacle of 1980s rock and roll, and if you only own one Def Leppard album, I may go so far as to say this should be the one.

Pyromania involves more planning than most of the impulse control disorders, so it is more compulsive than impulsive.
The usual impulse disorder sequence of strong arousal before and pleasure or tension reduction after the act must be present.
Most people with pyromania in childhood get better, but untreated adults (the majority of sufferers) don't.

Pyromania (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pyromania is the third album by British hard rock band Def Leppard, released in 1983.
Three songs from Pyromania, "Photograph", "Rock of Ages", and "Foolin'", became Top 40 singles in the US, benefiting from their popularity on the 24-hour music channel MTV and attracting a large group of female followers.
Pyromania was the last album by the band to be considered a "heavy metal" album, but still ranks high on many Top Metal Album lists.

Pyromania is not the same as arson (deliberate fire-setting), and not all arsonists (fire-setters) are pyromaniacs.
A key feature of this disorder is the presence of repeated association with fire, but with no evidence of a reason or motivation for the fire (such as profit or to hide criminal activity).
Pyromania may begin in childhood, but there is no conclusive data regarding the typical age of onset.

Guitarists Phil Collen and Steve Clarke may have provided all the pyrotechnics on Pyromania, but the focal point of Def Leppard's sound, particularly for their teenage female fans, was singer Joe Elliott's voice (and, of course, his hair).
Pyromania sees DL at the height of their pop/metal powers just before the pop sound would take over on the albums that followed.
Of course it would have happened anyway, since nothing as real as real metal could ever remain popular for very long, but the transition from Pyromania to Hysteria is the most evident symptom of the disease that eighties metal caught and died from.

 Untitled Document
There is little good research that focuses on pyromania, as distinct from general fire setting.
Individuals with this disorder are fascinated by fire from an early age and experience a sense of gratification, pleasure and arousal from it and this overrides any concern for individual life or property that the fire might cause.
This suggests that serotonin reuptake inhbitors (Prozac-like medications) may be effective in the treatment of pyromania but systematic studies of treatments have rarely been carried out (most reports are of single cases) to provide a definitive anwer.

Pyromania - Def Leppard - Pandora Internet Radio
While Def Leppard had obviously wanted to write big-sounding anthems on their previous records, Pyromania was where the band's vision coalesced and gelled into something more.
Robert John "Mutt" Lange's buffed-to-a-sheen production -- polished drum and guitar sounds, multi-tracked layers of vocal harmonies, a general sanding of any and all musical rough edges, and a perfectionistic attention to detail -- set the style for much of the melodic hard rock that followed.
Leppard's quest for huge, transcendent hard rock perfection on Pyromania was surprisingly successful; their reach never exceeded their grasp, which makes the album an enduring (and massively influential) classic.

 Statistics about Pyromania - WrongDiagnosis.com
The term 'prevalence' of Pyromania usually refers to the estimated population of people who are managing Pyromania at any given time.
The term 'incidence' of Pyromania refers to the annual diagnosis rate, or the number of new cases of Pyromania diagnosed each year.
Hence, these two statistics types can differ: a short-lived disease like flu can have high annual incidence but low prevalence, but a life-long disease like diabetes has a low annual incidence but high prevalence.

 Pyromania by Def Leppard CD
Many wondered why it was taking the group so long to release a follow-up to 1981's HIGH 'N' DRY, but the finished product was well worth the wait.
The album features such mega-hits as "Photograph," "Rock of Ages," and "Foolin'," as well as a couple of other tracks that could have easily been singles as well, "Rock Rock (Till You Drop)" and "Too Late for Love." PYROMANIA remains one of the best and most popular hard-rock recordings of the '80s.
I can see why everyone says "Hysteria" is the best one by them because it has most most of their hits and over half of the album was made up of hit singles, but "Pyromania" had them closer to metal than ever!

More than ever before, the band's songs on Pyromania are driven by catchy, shiny melodic hooks instead of heavy guitar riffs, although the latter do pop up once in a while.
But it wasn't just this newly intensified focus on melody and consistent songwriting (and heavy MTV exposure) that made Pyromania a massive success -- and the catalyst for the '80s pop-metal movement.

Midway through recording sessions, the band was forced to replace the alcohol-dependent Pete Willis with former Girl guitarist Phil Collen (NOT to be confused with Genesis singer Phil Collins.) It took over a year of recording, but finally in early 1983, Pyromania hit stores.
