The heat from the geothermal plant in Pyrzyce replaces heat formerly produced in 68 coal-fired heating centres with a total annual coal consumption of 60 000 tonnes.

Our destination Pyritz is called "Pyrzyce" now and those names sound similar.
My mother and grandmother did never see such a sign in their life again since they had to leave their home town.
I look in my documents and find a note about Pyrzyce: 12000 inhabitants, 1000 year old history, 80% destroyed at 1945, later restaurated and rebuilt.

During the period 1987 to 1994, a number of exploration wells were drilled and an experimental plant at Podhale was constructed and the construction of a heat generating plant at Pyrzyce started (Sokolowski, 1995).
An 18-MWt heat pump is also shown to be operating at Pyrzyce utilizing 25 C water.
The largest user of geothermal energy is the 40-MWt air conditioning plant at Pyrzyce using 70°C water.

The Pyrzyce project was evaluated in 1998 by an independent consultant and was assessed to be fulfilling project objectives very satisfying as well as contributing considerably to DANCEE programme objectives, including positive environmental impacts primarily in terms of substitution of coal based heating.
Although DANCEE has found this and other geothermal projects successful, they were launched on an individual basis as separate projects initiated from a bottom-up approach.

Unfortunately, there are quite a few possible derivations, and I can't say which is most likely to be right.
I think it is worth mentioning that the German name for the Polish town of Pyrzyce, in Szczecin province, is Pyritz -- and in terms of pronunciation that sounds awfully close to Pieritz.
If I had to make an educated guess, I'd say this may be a Germanized name deriving ultimately from the name of the town Pyrzyce, or from the same linguistic root as that name.

It is very strange, 60 years later, to be able to download a map on the web and retrace the Jentsch’s walk across the fields.
The long fl line is the Stargard – Pyritz (Pyrzyce) train, the train station must be the dot just to the NW of Warnitz (Warnice) with Barnimskunow (Barnim) further down the road to the SE.
The dirt farm roads have clearly been upgraded.
