The progress of the Club continued to be interrupted, until after the 1960 season when the QAFL decided to drop both Yeronga and University from the Senior competition.
Intended as a means of better identifying with our local area, it happened at a time when a deal was struck where South Brisbane (to the convenience of the QAFL and Western Districts Club) financially bailed out the almost bankrupt Sherwood Club.
The Sherwood committee were only too happy to make this change, but when the QAFL went into liquidation after the 1997 season, everyone quickly forgot their obligations.

Interesting quote on Queensland Football - BigFooty
IMHO, it was the QAFL that like the ARL has done in recent years who shot themselves in the foot regarding the development of Aussie Rules up North, there has always been enough support!
It was talking about the popularity of the game as a whole and the QAFL which dropped up because of this.
It's not a foreign concept and that's why I hate it when it is compared to the NSW situation where it has been foreign a number of years and Victoria with Rugby League.
