QRP operation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The term QRP derives from the Q code where "QRP?" was used to mean, "shall I lower my power?".
Communicating using QRP can be difficult since the QRPer must face the same challenges of radio propagation faced by amateurs using higher power levels, but with the inherent disadvantages associated with having a weaker signal on the receiving end, all other things being equal.
QRP is especially popular with CW operators and those using the newer digital modes.

The QRP's research goals and collaborative learning activities are to study the impact of international ties, state policies, and the use of natural resources (especially land and water) on the dynamics, continuities, and changes in Quer€taro's rural communities and society.
The QRP is part of a larger tradition of long term, team and empirically centered ethnographic field research focused on certain theoretical problems or (sub-national) cultural regions that has been pursued by certain cultural anthropologists in the past (e.g.

ARRLWeb: QRP -- What, Why and How   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
Since the sensitivity of most QRP receivers outstrips the effective range of their transmitter, a signal that is very weak may be impossible to work.
The QRP Q signal was created to mean "Shall I reduce power?" but has since been adopted by the enthusiasts of low-power operation as their banner.
QRP transmitters usually consist of a few transistors, and for HF work, the layout is not particularly critical.

Therefore, the QRP gear and antennas and other equipment have much less weight and is easy to pack and carry by comparison.
