She said Qantas revealed there could be further possible job cuts during talks in the past few weeks and is betting the data centre which supports the airline's voice and data network will be outsourced early next year to Telstra and IBM GSA.
When announcing the outsourcing review, Qantas said it was committed to retaining the 230 affected employees and no jobs are under threat as those who are not offered employment with the outsourcing provider will be redeployed.

Contract negotiations will now commence with EADS for the purchase of five aircraft, with contract signature expected later this year, and the aircraft scheduled to enter service from 2007.

Australia's Qantas is to reorganize the company into 10 businesses as part of a major restructure to help meet a cost-cutting target of AUD$1 billion (USD$690 million) over two years.
Qantas, which on Thursday announced it would launch a low-cost domestic airline, has slashed around 3,000 staff as it tackles the impact of the SARS virus, the Iraq war and stiff domestic competition in an already shaky aviation market.
