This paper examines the qualitative "versus" quantitative debate by focussing on the definitions put forward in the library and information science (LIS) literature, identifying the characteristics attributed to the two, and assessing whether or not there is a fundamental difference between them.

A:  There isn’t a math requirement.  We have a Quantitative and Analytical Reasoning, or “QA” requirement, which may be satisfied by courses from many departments as well as the mathematics department.  See the course schedule for a listing of the QA* and QA courses.
A:  In a nutshell, (QA*) courses are those in which new quantitative methods are learned.  Quantitative methods can include computational methods (including using and deriving formulas) and methods of interpretation of quantitative data (evaluating graphs, tables, formulas, etc.)  (QA) courses require the application of quantitative methods already known.
This is particularly recommended if you think you will go on to major in a field of study which requires quantitative background, or if you wish to take a quantitative course that is closely tied to one you have just completed in high school.
