The acquisition of Quarry Bay was part of the largest conservation land purchase in Ontario.
Quarry Bay is 266 hectares (657 acres) in size.
The area from Quarry Bay to Christina Bay forms the "alvar coast" – an area of exposed bedrock sloping into Lake Huron with shoreline fens (also known as meadow marshes) at the heads of bays and inlets.

Quarry Bay is an area beneath Mount Parker in Hong Kong's Eastern District.
The river originally flowed into the bay, however it was shut off from the sea with the construction of the Tai Koo reservoir to supply fresh water to the Swire Shipyard, the Taikoo Sugar factory at Tong Chong Street, and later the Swire Coca-Cola factory at Greig Road/Yau Man Street.
The upper course of the river was converted into a cement-paved catchwater, and the lower course is the present-day Quarry Bay Street, with the original estuary near the Quarry Bay Street - King's Road junction.

PETOSKEY - Justin Conklin had grown to enjoy and take pride in his summer grounds maintenance job at Bay Harbor's prestigious golf course, but he was nervous about some of the precarious mowing areas, one of his friends said.
Conklin, 19, was killed Monday when he and the riding mower he was operating fell off the Quarry golf course's second-hole tee box down a steep embankment.
Boyne USA, owners and operators of the Bay Harbor golf course, issued a statement expressing their "sincere condolences to the Conklin family." Company officials did not respond to inquiries for further comment.
