 Washington Quarters
Quarters is a popular drinking game which involves players bouncing a quarter off of a table in an attempt to have the quarter land, without another bounce, in a drinking glass (or cup) on that table.
The current regular issue coin is the Washington quarter (showing George Washington) on the obverse, and an eagle on the reverse.
Typically, the resulting five parts (i.e., the four quarters of the body and the head) were gibbetted (put on public display) in different parts of the city or town to deter would-be traitors.

New coins were needed, so during that early part of 1937 prior to the new George VI does being ready, coins dated 1936 were struck with the head of George V on them, with a small dot was placed below the date to indicate they were actually struck in 1937.
The few 1936 dot 1 and 10 coins coins that now exist, are all specimen strikings and there is a cloud of un-certainty about when they were actually struck (they were un-known prior the mid 1940's when a small group of them came on the market.
The coins struck to be issued through the banks or for the standard Proof-like sets of the 12, were struck from nickle, while the Proof striking that came in a plush fitted box were struck from sterling silver.

The quarter farthing British coin (1/16th of a penny, 1/3840th of a pound) was produced for circulation in Ceylon in various years between 1839 and 1853 (although proof coins were anomalously produced in 1868).
Coins were minted in 1839, 1851, 1852, 1853, and the proof issue of 1868.
The new coin had to be proportionate in size to the other gold denominations, and this resulted in a coin which weighed 2.1 grams and was 16 millimetres in diameter.

Capped Bust Quarter Dollar (Small Size) - CoinPeople.com
Because Small Size quarters were made for such a short time, the series is one of the few of the 19th century that is complete-able by the average collector.
These coins were struck decades before proof coinage was made available to the general collecting public, and proofs were struck either on demand for favored collectors or for presentation purposes.
The technical merits of the coin are especially noteworthy, with the innovative close collar giving the quarters a precise, uniform appearance that would (with the advent of the steam press) be later imparted to all U.S. coins struck after 1836.

Quarter (Canadian coin) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The quarter is a Canadian coin, valued at 25 cents or one-fourth of a Canadian dollar.
According to the Royal Canadian Mint, the official name for the coin is the 25 cent coin, but in practice the term quarter is nearly universal.
This is because the sou originally referred to a monetary unit used in France (and also New France), whereas today in Canadian French it means a Canadian cent, and somewhere in history 120 sous of New France came to be worth the equivalent of what eventually became the Canadian dollar.
