 School music groups plan concert Tuesday: 5/12/01
At a recent international music festival in Quebec City, Canada, the junior high marching band received a "superior" rating with the jazz band and indoor percussion receiving an "excellent" rating.
The Whaling City junior high school concert, marching and jazz bands, along with the color guard, indoor percussion ensemble, chorus and orchestra participated in the Quebec City music festival, held at the same time as the Newton trip to another part of Canada.
The festivities concluded with a parade of bands through the old city where the vice president of the Quebec City Council was presented an American flag from New Bedford which had flown over Washington, D.C. The flag was donated by Joe Theodore and various veterans' groups.

Speaker, we are delighted by the decision of the premier of Quebec, Lucien Bouchard, to join Team Canada on its trip to Latin America from January 10 to 28.
We can assure the Quebec premier that the Government of Canada will do an equally effective job for the Latin American mission so that the members of the Canadian delegation may return home with maximum economic benefits for Canada and Quebec.
