		This is a list of Quebec general elections since Confederation in 1867, when Quebec became a province of the Dominion of Canada.
		The 63 Liberal seats include the May 27 1912 election of Gustave Lemieux by acclamation in Gaspé and the July 15 1912 election of Joseph-Édouard Caron in the Îles-de-la-Madeleine.
		A by-election was not held in Kamouraska until February 11 1869 (won by the Conservatives).

		The Quebec general election of 1886 on October 14, 1886 to elect members of the Legislative Assembly for the Province of Quebec, Canada.
		Mercier actually ran under the name Parti national, but that name was soon abandoned, and the traditional "Liberal" name was retained.
		The Parti national got a large boost when Liberals and dissident Conservatives rallied in reaction to the hanging of Louis Riel in 1885, for which the federal Conservatives were held responsible by Quebec voters.

	Brophy v. the Attorney-General of Manitoba [1895] - Quebec History
		The Public Schools Act, 1890, repealed all previous legislation relating to public education, and enacted that all Protestant and Roman Catholic school districts should be subject to the provisions of the Act, and that all public schools should be free schools.
		A portion of the legislative grant for educational purposes was allotted to public schools, but no school was to participate in the grant unless it were conducted according to all the provisions of the Act and the regulations of the Department of Education and of the Advisory Board.
		These schools received their proportionate share of the money contributed for school purposes out of the general taxation of the province, and the money raised for these purposes by local assessment was, so far as it fell upon Catholics, applied only towards the support of Catholic schools.

		In the Quebec general election on March 8, 1892, the incumbent Quebec Conservative Party under Charles-Eugène Boucher de Boucherville; defeated the Quebec Liberal Party under Honoré Mercier;.
		Mercier had been accused of corruption and removed from office as Premier by Quebec Lieutenant-governor Auguste-Réal Angers on December 16, 1891.
		Boucher de Boucherville resigned a year later, and was replaced by Louis-Olivier Taillon as Conservative leader and premier, who in turn resigned in 1896, replaced by Edmund James Flynn.

		Legislative elections in November 1958 assured a majority for the new Gaullist party (the Union for the New Republic) and other supporters of de Gaulle, and in December 1958 he was elected president of the Fifth Republic by a 78% vote of the electoral college.
		In the election of June 1968, de Gaulle, effectively using the threat of a Communist takeover and gaining the support of many Frenchmen who were frightened by the student excesses, won a landslide victory for his regime.
