 2005 Queens Club News - June 08, 2005
Andy Roddick is not often allowed to do anything quietly, such is his fame and global marketing appeal, but the parochial focus on British players at the Stella Artois Championships ensured that Roddick began the defence of his title at Queen’s Club on Wednesday about as far under the radar as he ever gets.
Given how he has struggled on European clay in recent seasons, he must be delighted to have the lush lawns of Queen’s Club under his feet once again, and to have the pleasure of serving howitzers and knowing that most of them won’t come back.
Unlike Roddick, Greg Rusedski has never quite managed to make his mammoth serve pay dividends at Queen’s and he would dearly love to remind his home crowd, after a decade of being an adopted Briton, that Murray and Tim Henman are not the only players they have to cheer for.
